Made in Glashutte, Germany, this versatile wristwatch is actually the slightly bigger brother of Ahoi neomatik Atlantik. In this version, it also features the patented NOMOS date mechanism with an extra-large window in the exact same color as the dial.
The golden “neomatik” lettering is a reference to the innovative date caliber DUW 6101 at work within. It contains a proprietary escapement, known as the NOMOS swing system, a patented date mechanism, numerous traditional finishes, and is finely regulated in six positions.
In the NOMOS date mechanism, the date ring is placed around the outside of the movement, resulting in a large date display and a slender movement. In addition, the date wheel is four times smaller than usual, which means it turns four times in 24 hours-and has a locking time of only 90 minutes.
In all NOMOS calibers, the date ring is placed around the movement. In neomatik date, this caliber is particularly large. The first neomatik caliber with a date mechanism, it remains wonderfully slender. The date display can be made even clearer, and is particularly legible.
