DESCRIPTION

The new Senator Chronometer demonstrates its incomparable sense of tact in a combination of silver-grey and blue that emulates the effervescent spray of the high seas. It has a 42 mm case in white gold with perfectly satin-finished and polished surfaces. The sapphire crystal case back allows the finely finished manufactory movement to be admired in all its glory. A dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with a white gold folding clasp harmoniously rounds off the appearance of this noble timepiece.

Harmonious colour composition
This new variant adds a fresh facet to the Senator collection: in cool silver-grey and deep blue, it combines traditional finishing methods with modern technologies and contemporary design. The dial and parts of the manual winding calibre are silver-plated by friction. In this elaborate process, fine silver powder, salt and water are applied by hand, giving the surface a fine, shimmering structure. These elements are then galvanised in grey. Polished and blued hands and appliques complete the design.
The royal class of timekeeping
In the past, marine chronometers were used for navigation on the high seas, and chronometers from Glashutte achieved great renown worldwide. In the development of this wristwatch, our team was inspired by the design of those historical timepieces. The high standards of quality and performance were also adopted: In a strictly controlled process, each model is tested for 15 days in five positions and three temperatures by the independent Thuringian Weights and Measures Office in order to continue the great tradition of precision timepieces from Glashutte.
Refined and highly precise mechanics
The manufactory calibre is equipped with a sophisticated second-stop mechanism: when then crown is pulled, the time display stops and the second’s hand is reset to zero and held in that position. When setting the time, the minute detent ensures that the minute hand jumps ahead from index to the next with an audible click – thus ensuring that the correct relationship between seconds and minutes is maintained. The calibre 58-08 is also a visual delight. Through the sapphire crystal case back, the finely finished features of the Glashutte art of watchmaking can easily be recognised: the characteristic three-quarter plate, screw-mounted gold chatons and the hand-engraved balance cock.
